Finalize Fall 2018 Enrollment before the Tenth Day of Class

September 10, 2018

The fixed enrollment date for the Fall 2018 semester is Monday, September 10, 2018.  The tenth day of classes is the last day on which you are able to add/drop via the Student Administration System. The amount of your financial aid awards and/or University scholarship for the semester will be based on the number of credits you are enrolled in on that date. If you drop credits during the add/drop period, you may be required to repay some or all of your aid that was disbursed to you if, as of the fixed enrollment date, you no longer meet the enrollment requirements for the types of aid you have been awarded.

If your enrollment is not finalized by September 10, 2018, you will be notified by the Office of Student Financial Aid Services (OSFAS). If your fall semester registration was finalized AFTER the tenth day of classes you may submit a Financial Aid Fixed Enrollment (Day 10) Appeal Form to request reinstatement of your financial aid package (on a funds-available basis). Appeals must be received by the OSFAS no later than September 25, 2018.

A full description of the Fixed Enrollment policy can be found at https://financialaid.uconn.edu/enrollment/.

Updates on Sharing Your Student Information

May 15, 2018

On May 15th, UConn will be launching two new features that will make it easier for you to share certain information from your student record with your parents or other individuals.

FERPA Designee Pin Page: This newly improved FERPA pin page will allow you to assign pin numbers to anyone you designate. This feature is similar to the current version in that assigning  a pin number will allow the person you designate to talk to certain University offices about your records. This feature will replace the existing FERPA pin code function in Student Admin. Please complete the new FERPA Designee process in order for the Office of Student Financial Aid Services to discuss certain financial aid information from your record.

Delegated Access:  Delegated access is a new function being offered within Student Admin. This feature enables you to invite others, such as parents or spouses, to create a delegate account and access information in Student Admin that you have given them permission to view. The individual(s) you delegate will be able to see certain Student Admin screens just like you see them.

For more information on how to assign a FERPA Designee or offer Delegated Access, please visit https://ferpa.uconn.edu/share-my-information/.

When do I need to submit the verification documents?

May 14, 2018

Students selected for verification and awarded an estimated financial aid package must submit all documentation to the OSFAS by the deadlines indicated.  To meet the August 1 Fee Bill due date, documentation must be received by July 1.  Students who submit documentation after the July 1 deadline may not have their Financial Aid applied to the University Fee Bill by the August 1 due date.

Students should not submit documentation unless they receive specific requests from the OSFAS or through the Student Administration System.

Policy Update #2

April 10, 2018

We are pleased to provide the following update related to the release of financial aid information to third party scholarship agencies.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Privacy Technical Assistance Center has reversed their previous guidelines that prevented us from completing and sending scholarship forms directly to third party scholarship organizations.  With your permission, we may now complete and submit the form on your behalf.

Depending on the type of financial aid you may be seeking, this may not apply to you.  Please visit https://financialaid.uconn.edu/external/ for more information.

Policy Update

March 14, 2018

As a result of new guidelines received from the U.S. Department of Education’s Privacy Technical Assistance Center, the Office of Student Financial Aid Services (OSFAS) has implemented a policy change.

In the past we were able to complete third party scholarship forms, with your permission, and submit the completed form to the agency. We will still be able to complete the form, but we will no longer have the authorization to submit the completed form directly to third-party scholarship agencies on your behalf. We will provide you with the completed information for you to forward to the appropriate third party.

Depending on the type of financial aid you may be seeking, this may not apply to you. Please visit https://financialaid.uconn.edu/external/ for more information about this policy change.
