The following offices at the University of Connecticut provide assistance to students who wish to apply for a prestigious scholarship.

The Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships has information on how to become a strong candidate for a national scholarship. The office nominates candidates for competitions that require institutional endorsement and supports students applying for prestigious competitions that do not require nomination.

The Office of Global Affairs has information on funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students seeking funding for study and research abroad.

Boren Scholarships and Fellowships

Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations. Boren Scholarships provide undergraduate students up to $20,000 for an academic year’s study abroad. Boren Fellowships provide graduate students up to $30,000 for language study and international research. The Boren Awards are an initiative of the National Security Education Program (NSEP) and are administered by the Institute of International Education. If you want to become a physician, dentist, veterinarian, optometrist, clinical or counseling psychologist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and qualify, you could earn a full-tuition scholarship, plus a monthly stipend of more than $2,000.

Giva’s Corporate Student Scholarship and Worldwide Community Ambassador Award

Giva’s Corporate Student Scholarship and Worldwide Community Ambassador Award is for anyone attending a college or university worldwide. This scholarship grant is aimed at assisting undergraduate or graduate students further their education as well as expand their social responsibility and community service footprint in the world. There is no specific course of study or major required.

Evette Harless Scholarship

National Go Solar Foundation (NGSF) established the “Evette Harless Scholarship”. This scholarship awards $1000 annually to up to ten graduate students. More information and the requirements are available in the organization’s website.
