FAFSA Reminder for the 2017/2018 Academic Year

The 2017-2018 FAFSA has been available since October 1, 2016.  Utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to import 2015 tax figures directly from the IRS for maximum accuracy and for faster processing.  Award notifications will be sent via email beginning late April 2017.

UConn’s On Time Deadline dates are as follows:

  • March 1, 2017 for:
    • Continuing Undergraduate and Graduate Students
    • New Freshman
    • New Transfer Students
    • New School of Social Work Students
  • May 1, 2017 for:
    • New Graduate Students (not attending School of Social Work)

When should I complete and submit the FAFSA on the web?

  • You should complete the FAFSA by the deadlines listed above. Failure to complete the FAFSA by these deadlines will result in a loss and/or reduction of financial aid.
  • Financial aid is awarded annually, and you must reapply each year. The amount you receive each year can vary according to your financial need and availability of funds.

What can I do if I missed the On Time FAFSA deadline?

Students who have not met UConn’s FAFSA deadline may petition the university for reconsideration of their eligibility for most forms of financial aid by submitting the On-Time FAFSA Deadline Appeal Form.  Please visit the Appeals Page / On Time Status section for detailed information.
